We have prepared a dictionary of terms that you may encounter in live marketing agencies.

BASE – A place that is intended for production, technicians, agency

CATERING – food, refreshments, buffet, food stand, food tent, etc.
CURFEW – time limitation of the action, night silence

DOORS – information on when the event starts, or the order

FOH – front of house – sound base. Mostly opposite of the stage, where the sound/lighting/video direction is located
FLOOR SET – technique that is placed on the stage – e.g. lights, backdrops.

HOSPITALITY RIDER – it mostly contains the conditions under which the artist will travel, what they will drink and eat, and move around. It also includes the SECURITY rider, who deals with security and everything related to it.

CABLE DEFENDER – cover for cables, cable transitions

LED WALL – video wall. It is usually located at the back of the stage.

MONITOR WORLD – the place on the left or right side of the stage where the sound engineers are in charge of stage sound, listening monitors, in-ear monitors (headphones used by performers). Next to them there is usually also playback world – materials that are released to artists. Guitar technicians, etc., also have backgrounds on the sides of the stage.
MONITOR – A speaker that is on stage and the artist can be heard better from it.

PLAYLIST – SETLIST – the order of songs that will be played during the artist’s performance

RISER – It is a raised podium, mostly built from NIVTEC boards in a standard format of 2×1 m
RIGOVAŤ – RIGGER – to hang something. People who work at heights and hang e.g. engines, lights, etc.

STAGE – stage. The place where it is performed
T
TBA – to be announced. Abbreviation for artist confirmation.
TB – to be confirmed. Mostly in contracts – for confirmation when something is still unclear
TECH RIDER – accompanying, complete, technical sheet, for enabling the artists performance. It is usually specified under what technical conditions the given performance can take place. Contains everything regarding audio, lighting and video requirements.
TRUSS – aluminum construction, crossbar – usually hangs technology, lights, LEDs, etc. on it.
